About Us

Since it was registered as a charity in 1991, the organisation has brought cycling into many people’s lives. The charity has become increasingly involved in cycling related training; bringing cycling to disabled people; encouraging people with poor health to take up cycling and working with excluded communities to help them make cycling part of their lives.

Our Vision and Values

Our vision is to ensure that cycling is accessible to all, through the main three themes of our organisation.

Wheels for All: working to provide cycling opportunities for everyone to enjoy, including those with disabilities.

Cycling for Life: assisting in the development and improvement of people’s health through cycling.

Bike Links: creating opportunities, schemes and projects for the socially excluded and improving social well-being through cycling.

We embrace opportunities to work with others in our chosen field and in doing progress towards long-term good practice.

Structure and Delivery Process

A board of trustees, who come to the organisation with a wide variety of skills and expertise, which enhance the development of the organisation, governs Cycling Projects.

Cycling Projects employs 7 members of staff (4 full time and 3 part time).

All operational staff have been trained up to the National Cycle Instructors Standard, and we have gone on to set bench marking standards in disability cycling and community recycling awards.

Several members of staff are also trained Walk Leaders as we are fully aware of the close similarities between walking and cycling.

Emphasis is on each member of staff being more than just a cycle trainer/instructor, with each person encouraged to promote the values of cycling and effectively an active lifestyle accordingly, within each specific project.

Essentially each current project has an underpinning factor of sustainability within it, and we are focussed on utilising existing community members and project participants to assist and eventually lead and guide within future programs.
