A Bikes for Life!
Did you get a new cycle for Christmas this year? Did you know millions of bikes are thrown away or unused in sheds across Britain?
If you have a bike that you no longer use or want then why not donate it to Cycling Projects. Within our charity we have projects that are always in need of donated bikes such as the recycle project. The project runs bike maintenance and restoration sessions for vulnerable and homeless people with partnership with Western Cheshire Council & Western Cheshire PCT Primary Care Trust. Once individuals have committed to a 6 week bike building program they then get to keep the refurbished bike to provide them with new skills and more independence.
We are in more need of donated adapted bikes! We have many disability cycle centres (Wheels for All centre) across Britain that are in need of tricycles, tandems, hand cycles and any specially adapted bikes. With some centres having over 300 participants accessing the adapted bikes, yours would make a huge benefit. The cycle sessions we offer to adults and children with disabilities or differing needs are; both physically and mentally stimulating, promote independence, improve development and above all fun for everyone involved.
If you own an adapted bike that is not getting used then please, please give it a new home and donate it to Cycling Projects.
Bikes we need:
Adult Bikes: Two wheeled adults bike that is in reasonable condition, bikes that have been left out in the rain to rust we wont be able to accept.
Trikes: Three wheeled bike children’s or adults, great for riders with balance issues.
Tandems: Two person bike, great for individuals with sight issues.
Hand cycles: Bicycle that is powered by arms rather than legs, individuals with limited leg mobility.
Quads: Four wheeled bike.
For two wheeled bicycles in small quantities we rely on people dropping them with us at one of our Wheels for All centers, we currently have over 50 centres cross Britain. For adapted cycles or large quantities of bikes we can potentially arrange collection.
So when you’re next decluttering your garage or shed, keep Cycling Projects in mind. Remember your unused cycle would make a huge difference to many of our participants!
