Cycling Projects receive donation in memory of Karl

Over £1800 was raised for the cycling charity when Siemens workers in Congleton cycled 220 miles from Cardiff to Bangor in memory of their colleague, Karl Austin.

The 47 year old, Karl, who was a close friend of Bob Norton (Co-ordinator, Cycling Projects), was killed while taking part in a time trial for Congleton Cycling club in Derbyshire in June. In memory of Karl, twenty four workers and friends were sponsored to ride the length of Wales over three days.

The money raised will go to Wheels for All, a nationally recognised programme that helps children and adults with disabilities and differing needs to engage in cycling activities, by using specially adapted bikes.

We would also like send our special thanks to Lynda Austin, Karl’s widow, who donated a tandem to the Wheels for All centre in Congleton, as well as friends and family who donated to the charity in his memory.
