Liverpool Cycle Festival
Cycling Projects were invited to attend the Liverpool Cycle festival earlier this month. With the main event being a competitive cycle race around Otterspool Park, the festival was also to promote cycling to all. Our Wheels for All teams in Liverpool & Knowsley attended the event along with some of their regular disability cycle users and their families.
Although a little chilly, the weather on the day was perfect - very little wind and bright sunshine. All the families and users set off from the park, and made their way down the hill towards the promenade, using an array of cycles, including a wheelchair transporter, tricycles, and the Lowrider. Cycling along the route on such different bikes created a lot of interest from fellow cyclists and spectators all inquiring about what it was all about!
The families who attended the event thoroughly enjoyed being involved; having the chance to cycle somewhere different and use their skills they had gained in another place with other challenges. After cycling, the team and families enjoyed hot drinks while watching the main event and also raised money for the charity from selling cupcakes donated by one of the families which were quick to sell out!
We would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the charity and our Wheels for All teams on the day, including members of the public, participants and families who took part in the cycle, and the volunteers throughout the day.
Overall it was a brilliant day that all the participants and families enjoyed. We will be releasing dates and venues of the rides over Christmas holidays for more families to enjoy our cycle rides around Liverpool!
