Event Season Upon Us - Come join us!

Helping the Community
15th August, 2012

We have been working with local companies to collect donated bikes, after being restored are then placed back into the community. Forster Dean a prominent North West based solicitors firm has asked members of the public to bring damaged or unwanted bikes into their offices, while Virgin Trains cut free and donated unclaimed cycles left at stations across the West Coast mainline.

Charity Bike Rides

Last Sunday saw two teams from Cycling projects together cover over 100 miles to raise money for the charity!

Bike Week- Euxton Health Ride
21st June, 2012

Out And About teamed up with the Euxton Healthy Streets group, led by Cllr Mark Perks, to deliver a Bike Week guided bike ride open to all on Saturday 16th June.  

Oldham Wheels for All 1st Birthday!

On Friday the 8th June, Oldham Wheels for All celebrated their first birthday with a party celebration at their centre in Alexandra Park with the local mayor starting things off!

Queen’s school cycling 200miles for the Queen!

Cycling from Queen’s to the Queen (Q2Q), this summer several girls from the school will be cycling a distance of around 200 miles!

Adaptive cycles hit the Mawddach Trail

There will be a multitude of unusual and remarkable bikes about on the Mawddach trail in Southern Snowdonia, when the 'Challenge your Boundaries' adaptive mountain biking project hosts the next of its Momentum Ride series on Sun 27th May.

WORLD PARATRIATHLON CHAMPION URGES DISABLED PEOPLE TO TRI TOGETHER FOR CHARITY

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, World paratriathlon champion Jane Egan is urging disabled people to join her and take part in Tri Together, a triathlon event launched by Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Commuter Cycle Training
3rd April, 2012

Lancashire County Council are providing two hours of free cycle training for adults which is being delivered by Cycling Projects in the Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancs areas.  

Sport Relief Cycle Challenge
28th March, 2012

Last week saw, BBC Radio Lancashire and North West Tonight Presenter Graham Liver take to the saddle to raise money in aid of Sport Relief. His Challenge being to cycle on a tandem, with some help from his friends, from the London Olympic Sadium to Preston in just four days (cycling more than 50 miles per day).

Rambles and Rides

Cycling Projects set up the Out And About initiative in 2008 as an active travel project to cover the Chorley and South Ribble areas.  In 2011 the Out And About project started some new activities in South Ribble, these included led bike rides, bike maintenance sessions and led rambles, all of which encourage people to travel more actively as part of their day to day lives.

Wheels For All was one of the first activities set up by the Out And About project which started in 2008 and the sessions have grown from strength to strength ever since. 

Fred Whitton Challenge - 112 miles

This year a team at Cycling Projects have taken it upon themselves to take on a gruelling 112-mile sportive cycle challenge around the Lake District!

Young Volunteer of the Year
