Pedal Away's (Knowsley Cycling Project) unusually warm cycle ride . . .

Kevin McCann (Knowsley Project Co-ordinator) reports; ‘It was a ride starting in Stockbridge Village, an area of Knowsley which we've never worked in before. In partnership with Mersey Forest and Knowsley Sports Development we had a brilliant turnout of 23 keen cyclists, ready to explore the new and old woodland areas local to the village.

Cyclists ranged in age and ability, but all came together to enjoy the unseasonably warm November weather. We were out riding for 2 hours and returned to the village to be treated to some hot drinks and soup, courtesy of St Alberts Church.

There is a real impetus within the area to start their own cycling group and allow locals to explore the wonderful areas of natural beauty on their doorstep by bike. Hopefully, with the help of Cycling Projects, Mersey Forest and Knowsley Council, a group will take part in bike leadership and cycle maintenance training, with the eventual aim of setting up a Stockbridge Village Cycle Hub’.

Sounds like some great cycling, keep up the good work Kevin’s Team!
